The King: A Wicked Novella by Jennifer L Armentrout

As Caden and Brighton’s attraction grows despite the odds stacked against a happily ever after, they must work together to stop an Ancient fae from releasing the Queen, who wants nothing more than to see Caden become the evil Prince once feared by fae and mortals alike.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

  • YA/NA Romance
  • Novellla #3.5 from The Wicked Series

Now onto my fan girl freak out…..

This book y’all…OMG! The wicked trilogy is one of my absolute FAVES! When The Prince came out I was super excited to read more from this world. Boy was I not disappointed. If you haven’t read The Wicked Trilogy or The Prince, please make sure you do before reading this book! The plot and characters wouldn’t make sense otherwise.

I went back and re-read The Prince before diving into this one. The story picks up right where it left off. Brighton is seriously one of my favorite characters. She’s gone through so much in her life. The Order is almost NO help to her. It’s almost as if she’s a ghost and no one pays any attention to her (girl, I can relate!). That is except the King/Caden. Also, we get to see Tink again! I love Tink so much!! He is freaking hilarious!!

Caden, dear sweet baby Jesus in a manger! He’s struggling so much with everything that happened in Brave. Even though the things that happened were beyond his control. He’s such a good protector of Brighton. He wouldn’t let anything happen to her *SWOON*. There is still drama with the Queen going on, ugh! But the two are doing their best to keep the gates from re-opening. That would be a freaking nightmare! The last thing they need to do is release the Queen.

This story is absolutely fantastic! I cannot wait to see where JLA takes this next book. The ending left me craving more! The story was a little dark and I’m perfectly OK with it! Please make sure that if you pick this one up you have read all the others first. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Can we have the next book, please? Definitely gets all the stars from me!! 🙂

Bully by Penelope Douglas

My name is Tate. He doesn’t call me that, though. He would never refer to me by a friendly nickname. No, he’ll barely even speak to me. But he still won’t leave me alone.

We were best friends once. Then he turned on me and made it his mission to ruin my life. I was humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got worse as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to stay out of his way. I even went away for a year just to avoid him.

But I’m done hiding from him now, and there’s no way I’ll allow him to ruin another year. He might not have changed, but I have. It’s time to fight back.

Theme Song-The Collapse by Adelita’s Way

Every single one of these songs hits me right in the feels while reading this book.

Let’s talk Tate for just a second here. This girl has had to put up with some MAJOR BS from her tormentor, Jared. She’s literally been through hell and back all at the hands of this dude. Name calling, embarrassment, alienated and literally tormented. Still she holds her head up high. Tate really grows some balls in this book. She’s a fighter and not putting up with anymore crap from Jared or his dickhead friends. GOOD FOR HER!! Jared is such a jerk to her for NO reason at all. I wanted to spin kick him in the face so many damn times!

Ok, on to Jared. I really, really, REALLY wanted to hate him. Like really badly. He was giving me super anxiety with every chapter. Super unpredictable, moody, scary and possibly violent. He went from being BFF’s with Tate to treating her like she was the anti-Christ. Through out the book though, he does redeem himself just a little bit. I mean, I still want to karate chop him, but in a good way. Once Tate stands up for herself and shuts him down, then he becomes a much likeable character.

This story was so freaking good! I love alpha males and Jared was literally one of those for sure! He scares off any potential dates for Tate. There is so much sexual tension in this book. Good GOD! All I could keep imaging to myself is these two in a boxing ring. One jab…one swipe! They literally take turns giving in to the other one.

This book totally gets a 5 out of 5 stars from me! I was up until past 2AM finishing it. I could NOT put it down. I’ve still been thinking about this book all day long. Cannot wait to start her next book in this series, Rival!

If you like N/A Romance books, this one is defiantly a true treat. Pick up a copy today!

Making Up: A Shacking Up Novel by Helena Hunting

WOW! This is the first review on our new site. Makes me want to tear up just a little bit. We have reviewed quite a few books over the years and lost them ALL. Ugh, it’s been a pain starting over, but here we are!!

Making Up is the 4th book in the Shacking Up series from Helena Hunting. This is a standalone dual POV novel. Here is the synopsis;

Cosy Felton is great at her job―she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.

Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.

As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

This book was so much fun to read. I literally flew through it! Here are a few things I LOVED about this book;

1 – Cosy is not your average female lead. She’s quite a bit younger than Giffin (she’s 22 and he’s 33). She’s still in college and has a little bit of first world experience. Also, she’s a nomad! I love that so much. She doesn’t want to stay tied down to one place for too long.

2 – Griffin isn’t your typical male lead either. He comes from money and drives a super fancy car. Literally he meets Cosy in a sex shop. Which was freaking hilarious BTW!

3 – The chemistry! I could feel it from their very first interaction. Cosy trying to sell sex toys and lube to Griffin, LOL! When he walked back into that shop…SWOON!

4 – They weren’t together 24/7. Even though they were a new couple, they weren’t up each others butts all the time. That gets super old in books. Like they never have a free moment to themselves? Weird…glad that wasn’t the case in this book.

5 – The plot was awesome! There were a few wrenches in there and I loved it! Kept me interested and wanting so much more!

6 – Lots of steamy scenes and swoon-worthy romance. Love, love, loved it!!

7 – This book was set in SIN CITY! There was plenty of SIN! Tehehe! ❤

8 – That ending…it was awesome!

If you love swoon worthy romance, LOL moments, and HEA this is a book for you! Helena Hunting is such an amazing writer. Her books are some of my favorite. I HIGHLY recommend her Pucked series as well as all of the Shaking Up series. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! 🙂 – 4 Stars from me!

Our new page!

This is our first post on our new blog page! It’s been kind of scary switching from Weebly to WordPress. We actually lost ALL of our content so we are basically starting over. Thank you to those who have stuck with us through the transition. We have brought a few more “sisters” on board to help us review books! Super excited to have them along for the ride. Thank you again for sticking with us!
