When Angels Fall
Trinity Marrow has lost the battle and her beloved Protector. Even with both demons and Wardens on her side, Trin may not win the war against the Harbinger.
Bringing Lucifer back to the world to fight the Harbinger is probably a really, really bad idea, but they’re out of options—and the world’s ultimate fallen angel is the only being powerful enough to impact the outcome.
As Trin and Zayne form a new and more dangerous bond and Lucifer unleashes Hell on earth, the apocalypse looms and the world teeters on the end of forever. Win or lose, one thing is certain—nothing will ever be the same.
I cannot believe this series has come to an end. Seems like yesterday we were waiting so patiently (LOL, no) for White Hot Kiss to come out. The wait between books was torture. Then we got to vote between Roth and Zayne for who would end up with Layla at the end of Every Last Breath. Of course y’all know who got my vote *cough cough ROTH cough cough*
When Jen announced she was going to write a spin off series featuring Zayne, I was elated! Zayne deserved his own series. Also, bonus, we got more Roth and Layla.
Then we were introduced to the badass, Trinity. Trinity who shares the same rare eye disorder as Jen, retinitis pigmentosa. Enter the Stormies! The Stormies are JLAnders who want to show their support for Jen and Trinity. Thus the, Fighting the Storm campaign was born. I tell you what, it has never felt so good to stand behind your favorite author and let her know she’s not alone. She has a whole fan base standing beside her.
Alas, we have come to the end of an era in Grace in Glory. Rage and Ruin left us in just that, RUIN! Counting down the months, weeks, days, and hours until this book was finally released. I had to know what happened to our sweet baby Zayne! Does he have feathers? Is he alive or dead? Is he a bad guy? Why am I in love with a fictional character? All good questions when starting this book.
I’ve said this each time I’ve finished a book in the Harbinger series. Trinity is a complete and total badass. I love her character so very much. She doesn’t let her eye disorder stop her. It doesn’t even slow her down. She carries on in the best way she can. After her world was rocked at the end of R&R, she picked up what was left of her life and tried to live.
Zayne….be still my little black heart! I’m so sad we won’t be reading about him any longer. He has been a staple since the very beginning. His character hasn’t wavered. His love for Trinity is something so powerful, it gives me goose bumps! I don’t want to spoil anything but, ugh I cried at the ending and a few times during the story. Those two, HEART EYES ETERNALLY!
eanut. PEANUT!! My mind was literally blown at the ending. I knew that he was going to play a big role in the ending. I wasn’t disappointed. Another part that had me in happy tears!
The ending was so bittersweet. Everything wrapped up nicely. I love how Jen brings her novels full circle and does all of her characters justice. It makes me want to pick up Bitter Sweet Love and start all over again. This book and series deserve all the stars.
She’s been the victim and the survivor…
Poppy never dreamed she would find the love she’s found with Prince Casteel. She wants to revel in her happiness but first they must free his brother and find hers. It’s a dangerous mission and one with far-reaching consequences neither dreamed of. Because Poppy is the Chosen, the Blessed. The true ruler of Atlantia. She carries the blood of the King of Gods within her. By right the crown and the kingdom are hers.
The enemy and the warrior…
Poppy has only ever wanted to control her own life, not the lives of others, but now she must choose to either forsake her birthright or seize the gilded crown and become the Queen of Flesh and Fire. But as the kingdoms’ dark sins and blood-drenched secrets finally unravel, a long-forgotten power rises to pose a genuine threat. And they will stop at nothing to ensure that the crown never sits upon Poppy’s head.
A lover and heartmate…
But the greatest threat to them and to Atlantia is what awaits in the far west, where the Queen of Blood and Ash has her own plans, ones she has waited hundreds of years to carry out. Poppy and Casteel must consider the impossible—travel to the Lands of the Gods and wake the King himself. And as shocking secrets and the harshest betrayals come to light, and enemies emerge to threaten everything Poppy and Casteel have fought for, they will discover just how far they are willing to go for their people—and each other.
And now she will become Queen…
Ohhh my goodness! It has been a whole minute since I’ve posted a review on my blog. What can I say? Life has certainly gotten in the way. Honestly, I blame COVID (uggh). Anywho, buckle up because I’ve to to talk about this book!
Holy $h*t my mind is blown! This is easily one of the best books of 2021. Readers are going to be taking about this book for years to come.
What did I love? EVERYTHING 😍 The action ⚔️, the twists, and the steam! Y’all this book is straight fire! Did I mention the steamy scenes?!
I’m still sitting here reeling. My brain is going a mile a minute trying to take in everything that happened in this book! It had me high and low. My heart was broken and mended at least twice. I see no flaws in the writing, except for the fact that the book is over and I’m a whole mess now. Never have I been this desperate for a follow up book. Except Opal, which I’ll NEVER forgive JLA for the ending! The pure torture of waiting a whole year to find out what happens. Ugggghhhhh!
The story line was never tired or boring. Kept me a little too invested. At one point my husband tried to talk to me and I straight ignored him. Didn’t even hear what he said, sorry not sorry! You will want to put up a sign that says, “DO NOT DISTURB!” Trust me on this! This book is easy to fall into and forget life for awhile. Make sure you buy a bottle of wine just to have on hand for that ending. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT flip to the back of the book! Refrain from reading the last chapter first. Y’all have been warned!
I want to know where Jen comes up with these ideas. That ending…I cannot freaking wait for the next book!! I will be counting down the days until we get more Cas and Poppy ❤️ Oh and Kieran too 😘
Run, don’t walk, to pick up this book! You won’t be disappointed on bit! If this is your first JLA book, make sure you read From Blood and Ash first. Follow that up with A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire. You want to prepare yourself for this sexy high fantasy with a kick ass heroine! Get out there and get your copy (or copies like myself, OOPS)!
Have to toss in my favorite quote 😍
“You are the foundation that helps me stand. You are my walls and my roof. My shelter. You are my home.”
He is the darkest star.
She is the burning shadow.
And together, they will bring about the brightest night.Less than a year ago, Evelyn Dasher was a normal girl, living a safe, rather unremarkable life—a life that was a total lie. Now she’s learned the truth about who she was and what she is.
Hidden within Zone 3, she knows that if she loses control of her dangerous abilities again, she not only puts everyone in the secret community at risk, but also the beautiful, deadly inhuman Luc. He will do anything to keep her safe. Lie. Barter. Beg. Kill.
But there are truths that not even Luc can prepare for, and as Evie’s abilities evolve, the consequences of everything he’s done turn devastating.
This book was everything I wanted and more. Jennifer L Armentrout never lets me down with her stories. I struggled for a long time to put into words how much I enjoyed this novel. It has taken me a few days to get my emotions under control.
First off, the Lux series is one of my absolute favorite book series of all time. It’s my go-to when giving out recommendations for my customers at the bookstore. I’ve placed this series in the hands of many friends and family members and converted them into JLAnders (if you aren’t in Jen’s group on Facebook, you should join!). Every year I go back and re-read them because I just can’t stay away from the characters or the story. Daemon Black was my first hardcore book crush, he’s still my #1. Fun fact; I named my car “Dolly” after Daemon’s car. If you haven’t read these books yet, I HIGHLY recommend them. Please start with Obsidian;
We are now into the third book in the Origin series by JLA. In the Lux series we meet Luc, our main star of the story. He is now a fully grown Origin male full of power and protectiveness. It almost pains me to say, move over Daemon Black! The Brightest Night made me into a diehard Luc fan!
The story picked right up where it left off in The Burning Shadow (Origin #2). Jen provides many twists and turns. Along with some pretty heavy bombshells. I really think she wanted us to sweat this time around. Can anyone say “Opal?” There wasn’t a second that I wasn’t invested in the characters or the plot. The relationship between Luc and Evie is so sweet and sugary. Luc’s pick up lines are freaking hilarious! I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times. They have that type of relationship that would make anyone envious, besides the fact that they are on the run.
Can we talk about Grayson for a second? He is so dry and witty! I just love him so much! His one lines crack me up!! I’m getting some major vibes that he is going to be a key player in the next book. I’m so glad we get to see my babies from the Lux series in the Origin series. I’ve missed them so much. We even get a little bitty baby!!
THE ENDING…..OMG! Y’all I died just a little bit inside. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT flip to the back of the book. You will spoil it for yourself. The ending literally blew my mind. I reached for my cell phone and immediately text my sister, “WTF!?!?!?” and throw in some confused emojis. It will leave you wanting MORE! I’m half tempted to beg Jen for the next book now, but I know she is working on other projects LOL!
Overall there wasn’t one thing about this book that I didn’t love. The story, characters, and the plot were executed perfectly. If you love paranormal romance and some action packed scenes, I highly recommend this series for you. It holds a special place in my heart and on my shelves.

by Helena Hunting (Goodreads Author)
Blaire Calloway has planned every Instagram-worthy moment of her cupcake and cocktails shop launch down to the tiniest detail. What she didn’t plan on? Ronan Knight and his old-school sports bar next door opening on the very same day. He may be super swoony, but Blaire hasn’t spent years obsessing over buttercream and bourbon to have him ruin her chance at success.
From axe throwing (his place) to frosting contests (hers), Blaire and Ronan are constantly trying to one-up each other in a battle to win new customers. But with every clash, there’s also an undeniable chemistry. When an even bigger threat to their business comes to town, they’re forced to call a temporary time-out on their own war and work together. And the more time Blaire spends getting to know the real Ronan, the more she wonders if it’s possible to have her cupcake and eat it too.
This books is so deliciously sweet! It’s like cotton candy and cupcakes. I loved it so much!
Helena Hunting is such an amazing writer. There is not one story of hers that I didn’t absolutely love. This is no exception. The story was adorable and super well thought out. All of the characters were amazing and hilarious! I laughed out loud several times while reading this one. Also, the mention of a beaver had me rolling. This enemies to lovers has it all!!
Love the concept of the bar and the bakery. Blaire and Ronan are two completely opposite people. Living to totally different lives. Blaire’s family is in the restaurant business and want her to join their forces. Ronan is reopening a bar that was his grandfather’s most prized possession (besides Ronan’s grandmother). Both are pushing back at each other and I love that cupcakes and axe throwing brought them together. That shit is adorable!
We are living in some dark times right now, but this book took that away for awhile. It is exactly the bright spot I needed. This book is adorable, fun, and fresh! I loved everything about it!!
Five stars from me ❤
Isabella Swan’s move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn.
Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife — between desire and danger.
Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.
This was my first time returning to Forks in over a decade.
I still remember the first time I picked up Twilight. My best friend called me and was raving about this vampire book that I just had to read. She had checked it out from the local library and ended up buying herself a copy. I was preparing for my out of country vacation with my family. She loaned the book to me and told me to annotate my favorite parts with a pencil. She had written notes out in the margins on her re-read.
My flight was only four hours long so I thought I would give this book at try during my air travel. We took off from Chicago and that’s all I remember. I was so engrossed in this book that I didn’t realize we were getting ready to land. After landing, we had a bit of travel time to get to our destination. I spent the entire time, through beautiful scenery, immersed in this book. Just as we pulled up to our gate I finished the book. Riding an amazing high from this book. Do you know what I did next? I flipped to the start of the book and started reading again. This time I took my time and annotated all of my favorite parts. Laughing to myself at how much Bella reminded me of myself. Especially the parts where she was in gym class (LOL).
Twilight was the beginning of my absolute love for all things YA. The second book was not out yet and I remember the two of us counting down for New Moon. We stalked the author’s page before the days of social media. We made character boards with our favorite characters, again before Pinterest. It was some of the best times of my life. I’m so thankful for this book. Even if the writing isn’t amazing, it still holds a very important spot in my life.
Reading this book as an adult brought back all those feelings. All the excitement and the craze. My visit back to Forks was so long overdue. I missed Bella and Edward more than I really knew. They welcomed be back with open arms.
Is Love Stronger Than Vengeance?
A Betrayal…
Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.
A Choice….
Casteel Da’Neer is known by many names and many faces. His lies are as seductive as his touch. His truths as sensual as his bite. Poppy knows better than to trust him. He needs her alive, healthy, and whole to achieve his goals. But he’s the only way for her to get what she wants—to find her brother Ian and see for herself if he has become a soulless Ascended. Working with Casteel instead of against him presents its own risks. He still tempts her with every breath, offering up all she’s ever wanted. Casteel has plans for her. Ones that could expose her to unimaginable pleasure and unfathomable pain. Plans that will force her to look beyond everything she thought she knew about herself—about him. Plans that could bind their lives together in unexpected ways that neither kingdom is prepared for. And she’s far too reckless, too hungry, to resist the temptation.
A Secret…
But unrest has grown in Atlantia as they await the return of their Prince. Whispers of war have become stronger, and Poppy is at the very heart of it all. The King wants to use her to send a message. The Descenters want her dead. The wolven are growing more unpredictable. And as her abilities to feel pain and emotion begin to grow and strengthen, the Atlantians start to fear her. Dark secrets are at play, ones steeped in the blood-drenched sins of two kingdoms that would do anything to keep the truth hidden. But when the earth begins to shake, and the skies start to bleed, it may already be too late.
I AM UTTERLY SPEECHLESS!! Absolutely loved the first book, From Blood and Ash, but y’all this book is even BETTER than the first one! I feel like I can’t even form real sentences.
DEAD.
Ok, I’m done rocking in the corner now. Hopefully I can get my feelings down before I start rocking again. Poppy is even more badass in this book than the last one. She may be one of my favorite book characters ever. She’s overcome some serious shit in this book. The relationship between her and Hawke is straight fire. I straight up love Kieran! He’s freaking hilarious and fiercely protective. I want to grab him up and squeeze him! *heart eyes*
MORE FEELS
The plot was so freaking good that I can’t stop thinking about it. I’ve got so many theories it’s making me a crazy person. The ending blew that last book out of the water by a long shot. I really want to scream from the roof tops how much this book took my breath away. It gave me anxiety (in a good way), made me laugh several times, had me saying WTF at least six different times.
There is a part, no spoilers, that was sooo freaking erotic I can’t stop thinking about it!
I’ve probably told a million people to read FB&A. This book just hammers home how amazing this freaking series truly is. READ THIS BOOK! If you love fantasy, sexy time, stabbing (LOL) and just straight up amazing storytelling….this book is for you!! Five stab worthy stars from me!

The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar.
Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born.
Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day—when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.
The two men spent years fighting over Grace Copeland, who also happened to be their third business partner. But in the end, neither man could steal half of her heart away from the other.
Eventually, they all went their separate ways. Our grandfathers married other women, and the two men became one of the biggest business rivals in history.
Our fathers continued the family tradition of feuding. And then Weston and I did, too.
For the most part, we kept as much distance as possible.
Until the day the woman who started the feud died—and unexpectedly left one of the most valuable hotels in the world to our grandfathers to share.
Now I’m stuck in a hotel with the man I was born to hate, trying to unravel the mess our families inherited.
As usual, it didn’t take long for us to be at each other’s throats.
Weston Lockwood was everything I hated: tall, smart, cocky, and too gorgeous for his own good. We were fire and ice.
But that shouldn’t be an issue. Our families were used to being at war. There was just one minor problem, though. Every time Weston and I fought, we somehow wound up in bed.
The newest one from Vi Keeland is FIRE! This book had me from the very first page. This book y’all, I can’t even!
Weston Lockwood is everything I want in a man. Sexy, confident, a little arrogant. When it comes to book boyfriends, he’s up near the very top! And the way he talks?? SWOON! Sophia doesn’t stand an ice cubes chance in hell around this man. Who can blame her??
I loved the feud between the families. It makes their interest in each other forbidden. Um, HELL YEAH! From the moment Sophia ran into Weston on the airplane I knew he was going to be trouble. It made the plot so much more exciting. The lust between the two of them was off the charts. So was the chemistry. That’s important to me in a book. The two have to have some kind of connection. Not an issue with these two.
The story flowed so well. It was like the Big Bad Wolf meets Little Red Riding Hood. He was ready to huff and puff and blow her whole house down!
Would I recommend this book to a friend? Absolutely! I’ve been binging Vi Keeland’s books for weeks now. This is my all time favorite one! Right up there next to Bossman (which I highly recommend as well!!). This one gets 5/5 from me!

The King must have his Queen….
Bestowed the forbidden Summer’s Kiss by the King of the Summer fae, Brighton Jussier is no longer just human. What she is, what she will become, no one knows for sure, but that isn’t her biggest concern at the moment. Now Caden, the King, refuses to let her go, even at the cost of his Court. When the doorway to the Otherworld is breached, both Brighton and Caden must do the unthinkable—not just to survive themselves, but also to save mankind from the evil that threatens the world.
Why does this series have to end? The Wicked series if one of my absolute favorites and when Jen said she was going to write Brighton’s story I was ELATED! Didn’t have to say goodbye to my favorite characters just yet.
This is is the third novella from this series. Make sure you have read The Prince and The King before picking this one up. It wouldn’t make much sense otherwise. Would make the most sense if you read The Wicked trilogy first before beginning the novellas. That way you get the entire story. Trust me, it’s totally worth it! The stories are more NA than YA, but either genre would enjoy!
I loved the characters so much in this story. It was super hard to say goodbye to all of them. Jen wraps the story up nicely and the plot is very well done. We get to find out more about Caden and our girl Brighton. Also, we get more of Tink! Who doesn’t love Tink?? My heart was so happy at the end of the book. Ugh, I want to start the whole series over so I can get back into this world.
“You are my sun. My strength. My redemption. My heart. My everything. My Queen. I will always love you.” – This quote made me cry! I love it so much!
Overall, I give this novella all the stars. They are very well deserved! Everything wraps up nicely and leaves you with a bit of a series hangover. I would LOVE to see more of this world! Hope ya’ll love it as much as I did!

Stop what you are doing and pick up this book:
Pestilence is the first book in the four book series by Laura Thalassa. It is EXCELLENT. The main character, Sara, is a bad ass. She is what you want a female character to be. She doesn’t just stand by and let Pestilence walk all over her.
Our story begins with Sara drawing the short match. She is staying behind to try and kill Pestilence. This gives her friends a fighting chance to escape him and the plague he brings with him. Sara doesn’t know that Pestilence can not be killed. She is taken as his captive. “Only the living suffer.” Pestilence wants to make her suffer and suffer she does. Sara wants to prove that human kind is worth redemption.
This book was unputdownable. Pestilence and Sara are ENEMIES at the beginning of this story. If you are not ok with enemies to lovers, this book is not for you.

Half-angel Trinity and her bonded gargoyle protector, Zayne, have been working with demons to stop the apocalypse while avoiding falling in love. The Harbinger is coming…but who or what is it? All of humankind may fall if Trinity and Zayne can’t win the race against time as dark forces gather.
As tensions rise, they must stay close together and patrol the DC streets at night, seeking signs of the Harbinger, an entity that is killing Wardens and demons with no seeming rhyme or reason. Forbidden to be with each other, Zayne and Trinity fight their feelings and turn to unusual sources for help—the demon Roth and his cohorts. But as deaths pile up and they uncover a sinister plot involving the local high school and endangering someone dear to Zayne, Trin realizes she is being led…herded…played for some unknown end. As anger builds and feelings spiral out of control, it becomes clear that rage may be the ruin of them all.
This freaking book! OMGGGG! I’ve been thinking about what to write here for awhile. Still waiting for my pulse to return to normal. Words can’t describe how much I loved this book.
*Please make sure you read Storm & Fury first* -Otherwise some of this might not make sense.
There were a few parts of this book that had me on the edge of my seat. My heart was literally pounding so hard. I was starting getting a little bit anxious (in a good way!) Jen doesn’t disappoint with this one.
Zayne is still BAE! I was hanging on every line of dialogue between him and Trinity. I must have yelled “JUST KISS HER” at least a dozen times. You could literally cut the sexual tension with a knife. Even though a relationship between them forbidden, I WANT THEM TOGETHER!
So much more of the story is built in the book. I’m loving the direction this series is going in. All of the Buffy references go straight to my heart! I’m still processing all of the things that were discussed. My brain and heart are both on overload. This book has a good mixture of love, lust, action, swoon worthy scenes and even some scary stuff!
Do I recommend this book and series? HECK YEAH I DO! I’m sad we have to wait a whole year for the next part of the story. Waaah!
